Help Us to Conserve the Central Police Station Complex - Support a Height Restriction

Support Our Town Planning Application – comments to Town Planning Board by 11-30pm on 27 February 2009

Application: Y/H3/4 – Central Police Station Compound

As you are aware, the Hong Kong Jockey Club are now making plans for the future use of the Central Police Station Complex. Unfortunately, they recently proposed a high-rise development without first formulating a heritage and conservation management plan.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club had to scrap their high-rise development plans due to public condemnation of the height and inappropriate disturbance of the heritage buildings within the Complex. The Jockey Club have now commissioned a conservation plan and this plans streses the heritage value of the Complex and that there should be minimal intervention on the site.

The purpose of this town planning application is to make a height limit of 77 metres (which is the height of the highest building currently on the site) and conserve the historic Hall F – the application also calls on a sensitive approach to the conservation of the Central Police Station Complex.

Please help us by sending the comment form to the Town Planning Board and supporting our application – send by 11-30pm on 27 February 2009.
